You Aren't Going To Ruin Your Kids
Jul 01, 2026
A Quick Dose of Encouragement for Your Weary Mama's Heart
I know you think you totally blew it this time. That this time, you screwed up so bad that you ruined your kid for life, but here’s the truth.
Unless you are abusive and neglectful, I seriously doubt you’re going to ruin your child for life.
We all make mistakes in parenting, and sooner or later, you’re probably going to make some really big ones.
We lose our patience.
We yell.
We say hurtful things we don’t mean.
We overlook a need.
We misinterpret a tone or text.
We judge harshly.
We forget they are young and learning.
Do you know what else we forget about? Grace.
Grace for them, grace for ourselves.
We are so caught up in the day-to-day grind that we are not seeing straight anymore. The bright, shiny days have turned into frustration, exhaustion, and disappointment. It’s easy to get off track.
It’s okay.
Life is messy. You know that.
What you need to do next is accept that.
Accept that life is messy, mistakes will be made, and that you and your kids will recover from the messy, challenging stuff of life.
So take a moment and breathe a prayer. Ask for divine perspective and help.
Kids don’t remember every mistake you make. They are quick to forgive when we ask, and they are surprisingly resilient, too.
No mom is perfect.
But His grace is.
The Perfect One covers us, our mistakes and sins, and brings beauty from the ashes all the time.
All you have to do is give Him your ashes and receive his grace.
